Daddy's All Star

Kaleb got this adorable outfit from one of Jay's co-workers. He's so snuggly soft in it! I know he's going to be one of Daddy's All Stars one day, right along side his big brother.

Dad's Team

I am amazed at how quickly Kaleb is growing. He fill out his 3 month clothes and I fear he's going to be wearing 6 months before too long. Nance bought him this outfit and I pulled it out on a whim. I never imagined it would fit him. Boy, was I wrong! I can't wait to see how much much he's grown at his 2 month check up next week!

Rub a dub dub!

He's totally going to hate me for this someday, but I couldn't resist. Jakob had to take a bath before Steph, Jaclyn, and Lauren left. The angle of the picture makes him look chubbier, but there's no denying, boyfriend's got some rolls. There are even more hiding below the wash cloth. When he's a teenager, he'll hate this picture. However, he would have hated me even more had I revealed his business on the world wide web!

Gobble! Gobble!

Happy Thanksgiving! Jakey looked so cute in his little turkey outfit. The front of it said, "My 1st Thanksgiving" and on the bottom of each foot it said, "Gobble." We had a great day at Denise's with all of the family. Aunt Mona, a long-time friend of Nance's, was there to celebrate with us. Aunt Mona has known Jay his entire life and we loved sharing Jakob with her today. I missed my family so much. To bring a little bit of the Longs to the Biddys, I made bread pudding, banana bread, and sweet potatoes. Jay and I are so thankful for one another and now our most precious blessing. God has filled our lives with so much joy this past year. We are also very thankful for each of you, our friends and family.

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Jakob has started smiling so much. You can tell he's trying so hard to laugh. He gets a huge grin when you tickle his cheeks. He's actually quite ticklish all over. (He gets that from mommy.) On occasion, he'll make a little noise. We know the giggles are right around the corner. I can't wait to hear that for the first time! My mom always comments on how she loves to hear us laugh. I think it must be music to a mother's ears.

Let the Spoilin' Begin!

It was so exciting to have all of the Biddys here from Georgia for Thanksgiving. Steph, Jaclyn, and Lauren could hardly wait to get here to see their new nephew and little cousin. Jaclyn and Lauren did such a great job taking care of Jakob and there was definitely no shortage of family members to hold him. Jakob loved the extra attention. Now mommy is left to retrain him to sleep in his bassinet.

We Survived!

Inspite of a lack of sleep, we managed to survive the first week back at school. All I have to say is, Thank God for Thanksgiving break. I don't have to go back to work until the 27th and I definately need the rest. I'm very glad that I decided to go back for one week so I could break myself in. We all did fairly well adjusting to the new routine. I was only late to school once. Miss Sandy, Jakob's sitter, is fabulous and we're so happy to have her. On Friday afternoon, I picked up Little Jakey early and we went back to Brookwood to show off. Jakob wore a fabulous Winnie the Pooh outfit one of my students bought him. He was, of course, a big hit!

Marieka

My first year at Brookwood, I had the joy of teaching Devin. He is a great student, funny, polite, and has a great family. The next year, I had the privelege of having his sister Marieka assist in my room as a part of the Ready Set Teach program. My students absolutely loved her as do I. Now, Marieka is a senior and is ready to graduate. So, Thursday night Jakey and I went over for a visit. It was so great to see Marieka, Devin, and the rest of the Walsh family. Unfortunately, Devin is the youngest and there won't be anymore coming through Brookwood. I miss them a lot!

Monday Night Dinner

Jay and I are gradually getting used to people using us. We kid ourselves by thinking people call because they like us, but the real truth is, we're just a means to an end. We'll pretend we went to dinner tonight to see Kelly and Mrs. A. but everybody wants Jakob. Even Kelly pretends she's driving to Clear Lake to see her mom, but, she too just wants Jakey. If I wasn't his mother, I'd do the same thing.

Back to Work

It was a sad day for Mommy. I can't believe how quickly the last seven weeks have flown by. But like all good things, maternity leave had to come to an end. The morning began much earlier than I am used to. We managed to make it on time with only a few minor casualties. We did have a few bumps along the way, such as me not being able to find my pants. For those of you who know me really well or have lived with me, know that getting dressed for anything is quite a chore and can cause quite a mess. Needless to say, I will be spending tomorrow afternoon cleaning my closet. I'm sure we'll get better each day. Jakob, of course, was a perfect angel and smiled through it all. He's a pro, it's me who needs psychiatric help!
